To the Editor:

Hi Kingston Voters! I am announcing my candidacy for the Sanborn Regional School District Budget Committee, for the three-year term beginning after March 9 elections.

The low English Language Arts and Math literacy for Sanborn graduates is a deep concern of mine. It is our obligation to fund education that results in our students moving on to college and careers with the ability to think, communicate and understand numbers. Those abilities result in a paramount building block that can open lifelong opportunities, while their lack shuts down an opportunity. Sanborn children need to know they’re going to be prepared when they graduate.

Sanborn needs to balance the needs and the affordability with workable solutions. I am a fiscal conservative who believes that we should get the best possible results for every dollar spent. My background qualifies me to serve our District by being on the Budget Committee. I have an Associate’s degree in Business Management, a BS in Business Finance, and a MA in Mental Health Counseling.

I served the school district of Andover, MA, and the municipality of North Andover, MA, overseeing multi-million dollar budgets, for eleven years. Thereafter I was a self-employed entrepreneur in a family business for five years. After I earned my MA, I shifted to my passion of Mental Health, where I managed a five million dollar budget, forty employees with a management team of fourteen for nine years. I am currently operating my

own office as an individual Mental Health Counselor. My commitment to education and the opportunities that it opens has led me to encourage the employees under my management to pursue higher education, with six of my direct reports having earned Master’s degrees.

I have two daughters, one of whom is employed in Kingston, and two granddaughters.

My family has been in Kingston for four generations, and I’ve owned my Kingston home for twenty years.

I ask for your vote on March 9 and look forward to serving our community on the Sanborn Regional School District Budget Committee.

Ken Anthony
