On behalf of the Atkinson Recreation Commission I would like to thank all the Atkinson residents who participated in the Atkinson Town Beautification Week April 19-26, the 13th annual Easter Egg Hunt on March 22, and the 13th annual Fishing Derby on May 10.

For Town Beautification Day, thank you to the twenty-two families for coming to the assigned certain streets to clean, and all other residents who participated during that week. Special thanks to Atkinson Road Agent, Ted Stewart, his crew, Josh Dugdale and other members from Highway Department for collecting all the trash bags all over the town during that week. Let’s keep our town clean and beautiful.

For Easter Egg Hunt, special thanks to Girl Scout Troop 2587 and 2685 for stuffing 2400 eggs, Girl Scout Troop 10025 and their leaders and their friends for hiding these 2400 eggs on early morning of Easter Egg Hunt day at Pope Field. There were about 300 children enjoying egg hunting and spring sunshine.

For the Fishing Derby, it was a beautiful spring day, forty-two young fishermen and their families came to Atkinson Community Center Pond. Special thanks to Atkinson Boy Scout Troop 9, Atkinson Fire Department EMT, Fred Childs, Charlie McCarthy, Jake Collins for helping and Atkinson Women’s Civic Club for providing coffee and refreshments. Here is the list of our prize winners: First fish caught – Colun O’Brien, 6; First five fish caught – Mark Stanze, 10; Biggest fish caught – Joshua Friel, 11 3/4 inch; Smallest fish caught – Danny Lee, 4 inch. Congratulations to all.
