I'm writing to tell you of a great occurrence that happened to me last week. I'm somewhat new to Kingston and had been looking for a place to have some work done on my car. About a month ago, I needed breaks and routers and went to Pete's Auto, on Church Street, across from the Carriage Towne Plaza. I was pleasantly surprised at how reasonable the cost was in comparison to similar work I had done two years ago in Hampton.

Anyway, last week on my way home from work, I backed into a snow bank and did something to my muffler. After being out of work for more than a year, I've been struggling to get back on my feet financially. I was sick at the thoughts of needing to buy a new muffler. I called Pete's and spoke to Joanne and told her my tale of woe. She offered to take me the next day. I told her my situation, I had to be in work at 8:00 a.m., and needed to try and get this fixed and not lose time from work as time is money. She asked if I could come in now and I headed straight for their station. She and her husband, Pete put my car up on the ramp. He saw that the muffler had been pushed in under the bumper. He worked at straightening it out and they said "good to go". I've had to stop by another station once for a quick fix and was charged $50.00 for something simple. I asked them how much and they said, nothing, don't worry, and smiled. They know I'm new to the area and had been out of work for a while.

This act of kindness meant so much to me and represented such a spirit of community. I was hoping that you would do some kind of mention or article for these kind people struggling in such a bad economy as well. It's so good to know that you can trust a local business and especially when it comes to your car. They're good people in a great community and they deserve recognition. They do wonderful work as well. As I said, I was pleasantly surprised at how very reasonable the cost for breaks and routers were, all with Toyota parts. Amazing. It's nice to feel like you got a deal and can trust the people you're dealing with. Kingston, is a great place to live.
