To the Editor:
Kingston VFW Post 1088 was lucky enough to stay open year after the Post was up for sale in 2019. Post 1088 Commander Steven DeLong and Quartermaster Shawn Freeman along with the support of a few other Post members and the Auxiliary were able to sponsor a Cub Scout Pack, a martial arts instructor, provided donations to Kingston, Plaistow and Hampstead food banks as well as hosting many events to raise money for local community veterans. Members were notified at the end of May that Officer elections were to be held via Zoom conferencing or dialing in on June 4th, 2020. While we had interest from a couple of members to fulfill two key positions, the elections held did not have any nominations and a vote was taken from those members present, to consider surrendering the Post charter. This vote was approved and per the VFW National By-Laws, notification was made to the NH VFW Department Commander of the decision. While time needs to elapse until an official vote by members in a secondary regular or special meeting to either finalize the surrendering or suspension the charter, we are still looking for Post members in the area to hopefully fulfill the following positions to keep the Post alive and support the communities we live in: Commander, Quartermaster, Senior Vice Commander, Junior Vice Commander, Chaplain, Service Officer, and 1, 2 and 3 year Trustees.
Inquiries can call the outgoing Commander Steven DeLong at 603-305-9485 or firstname.lastname@example.org as soon as possible as a meeting will be held in the next two weeks and will be posted on the Kingston VFW Post 1088 Facebook page at www.facebook.com/vfwpost1088.
