To the Editor:
Three years ago I was honored when you elected me to serve as the At-Large School Board member, representing Kingston and Newton residents. I’m proud to announce my candidacy for reelection and I hope to earn your continued support.
My husband, two children, and I moved to Kingston twenty years ago. I have a B.S in Social Work and am currently employed as a Systems Analyst. Throughout the years I’ve enjoyed serving our communities in various capacities, including president of Sanborn Youth Soccer and Girl Scout Troop leader. While my children attended Sanborn schools I was actively involved as a volunteer with the PTA, Drama Club, Music and Sports Boosters.
As a School Board member, I’ve worked hard to represent you. I’ve attended every school board meeting. I chair two committees. I appreciate hearing from constituents and respond to every phone and email contact.
My record is clear. Three years ago I listed my top priorities as fiscally responsible budgets and improving student performance, and I’m proud to say that we’ve made strides in these areas. Next year’s proposed budget is only about a half percent higher than this year’s and is lower than the default. The administration is tackling student performance, and I support their goal of 80% of students performing at or above grade level. I'm excited to be part of shaping a great future for Sanborn.
I’m not a politician; I’m a wife and mother who cares deeply about education in our communities. I’m dedicated to the pursuit of excellence and I believe it can and will be achieved – and at sustainable costs that make sense for all of our residents. We’ve made progress but there is more to do. I hope to earn your vote again and if re-elected, I will continue to work tirelessly on your behalf.
