Bakie Elementary School in Kingston had local author/illustrator Mary Prebel visit on February 15. All students attended the artist-in-residence assembly full of wonder and excitement. Mary Prebel’s artwork is very similar to well-known author/illustrator Eric Carle. She demonstrated her printmaking techniques to create illustrations for her children’s books. Second graders created collage bookmarks and K-1 practiced being illustrators by visualizing and drawing their favorite animal. Students will create their own printmaking collage work in the art room with Ms. Johnson. It was a wonderful day and nice to have visitors back in the building!
