EPPING —Welcome to the Epping School Board News Corner for the April 2, 2015 School Board Meeting.
Guests: UNH Professor Tom Schram talked about the UNH Epping Elementary School partnership providing on site student teaching training for UNH education students. Several interns commented on their experiences as elementary and art teacher interns. School Principal Mark Vallone commented that this program is a great asset to the school.
Reorganization: The Board reorganized due to the March elections. Mr. Mylott will continue as Chairman and Shannon Boelter as Vice Chairman. Committee appointments were also assigned.
Policy: The Board conducted a first reading on Policy Section I Instruction. It was reported that most of these policies are required by law or recommended by the NH School Boards Association.
Financial Business/District Services: The Board reviewed the District Technology Plan and requested revisions to include staffing needs and other resolutions. The Board requested that the budget continue to be frozen with the exception of critical needs and an update be presented at the May meeting. It was reported that the 2015-2016 health insurance rates have been set at the budgeted rates. The Board was updated on the status of the roof emergency. The Unified Emergency Command held a debriefing and reported that the incident went very smoothly. The engineering firm has received the school building plans and is in process of determining roof loads. Upon receipt of this information the district will meet with the Fire Chief to develop a school roof plan. It was reported that the PACE pilot continues to be a major district focus. A parent letter is being distributed to provide a program overview and what it means for Epping schools and students.
Personnel: The School Business Administrator position has closed and the committee is scheduling interviews.
