HAMPSTEAD – During their annual equipment handout days, the Wildcats will be accepting donations for the Hampstead Military Support Club. The dates are Sat., July 21 and Sun., July 22, and will be held from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on both days, at the Depot Road Fields Complex in Hampstead.

The Military Support Club was founded by Hampstead Middle School teacher Kathy Cussen in October 2001. Through the efforts of Mrs. Cussen and her students, more than 70 local servicemen and women have been “adopted” by the program and routinely receive cards, emails, and letters written by friends and family, as well as young schoolchildren. The efforts of the Club expanded to include shipping “care packages” to military personnel who are stationed not only stateside, but overseas as well.

The Wildcats urge you to head over to Depot Road Fields and show your support by making a donation. Some ideas for donations include: Fruit Roll Ups, Chewy Granola Bars, Starburst, Life Savers, Individual Small Snack Packages, Playing Cards, Squeezable “Stress Balls”, Nuts, Beef Jerky, Financial Donations (checks made payable to the HMS Military Support Club help to offset the postage costs).
