EPPING – Speak-up, Epping! will hold a potluck barbecue on Tues., July 17 at 6:30 p.m. on the field beside Epping Elementary School. During the past three months four volunteer work groups have been meeting to consider ways to improve communication in the community, revitalize the downtown and make known the recreation and volunteer opportunities available in Epping. At the barbecue, the groups will report on their progress, discuss common concerns, and consider what resources are needed to accomplish their work. Speak Up, Epping! welcomes to the barbecue all members of the Epping community interested in knowing more about the activities of these four groups.

Speak Up, Epping! will provide the hamburgers, hot dogs and trimmings. Participants are asked to bring their own drinks (no alcoholic beverages, please), chips, chairs or a blanket and also a salad, vegetable dish, or dessert to share. In case of rain, the picnic will take place inside Epping Elementary School.

Speak Up, Epping! held its first community meeting at Epping Middle/High School on April 14. At this all day meeting almost 150 members of the Epping community had lively discussions on how they felt about Epping as a place to live and work, the community values they wanted to keep and the changes they would like to see in the future. Copies of the report of the discussion groups are available at the library and on the Epping town website.

The Speak-Up Epping! project was facilitated by the UNH Cooperative Extension in cooperation with the Town of Epping, members of the Speak Up, Epping! continuing steering committee are Liz and Jeff Conrad, Cliff Cray, Barbara Helmstetter, Mary Ann Jenness, Isobel Parke and Madelyn Williamson.
