PLAISTOW — The past few months have been very strange and somewhat depressing, to say the least. Now, it’s time to get a little bit of normalcy back into our lives.
Due to last year's overwhelming response and success, the Plaistow Exchange Club is pleased to announce they will once again hold their Scarecrow Fundraising program.
To participate in this FUNraiser, you can purchase a scarecrow building kit, which consists of a hand-drawn face on a burlap sack and a wooden frame for $25.00. You provide clothes and personality. Then you can put your creation outside of your home or business for all to see.
Driving around for a scarecrow tour/scavenger hunt has become a fun fall tradition since many of our neighboring towns also have scarecrow programs (and it's an activity that we can still do safely during these trying times).
Once all of the Plaistow scarecrows are displayed, those of you who wish to will have your addresses (no names) made available on a map.
They're also having a contest for bragging rights and the chance to win a gift certificate from a local business.
The categories for the contest are: funniest, scariest, most patriotic, most original, best business/municipal, and new this year...people's choice.
Pre-orders will be accepted from August 23 to September 15. They sold out early last year, so don't delay. If they have any leftover scarecrows after pre-orders close, they will be available for over-the-counter sales at Sweet Hill Farm, 82 Newton Road, Plaistow.
All proceeds from this program go back to the town of Plaistow towards Exchange Club programs of service for prevention of child abuse, service to seniors, veterans appreciation, and Holy Angles Food Pantry, just to name a few.
