SANDOWN — The Sandown Public Library will host a full schedule of events in May including Military Appreciation, card-making, computer classes, genealogy seminar, author visit, recipe tasting night, movies, and Mother's Day crafts. Military Appreciation Month - May is designated as Military Appreciation Month and the library would like to thank all our residents who have served or are currently serving in the armed forces. Visit the library to see our military display in the exhibit case, check out books and movies on military stories and receive a special thank you gift from the library. As a small token of appreciation for your service to our country, the library has teamed up with Bean Towne Coffee House and Café© in Hampstead to offer a free cup of coffee to our service men and women. Stop by the library soon to receive a gift card.
Introduction to Computers - The second session of the basic computer course will continue on Mon., May 7, at 9:30 a.m., with Technology Integration teacher and Sandown resident Christina Hubley. The second class will focus on setting up an e-mail account. Space is limited and a registration is required. Classes will continue on Mondays, May 14, and 21.
Author Visit - Don't miss this special author event on Mon., May 7. Beginning at 6:00 p.m., local New Hampshire author Eric Pinder will talk about the variety of books he has written including his newest children's book, If All the Animals Came Inside, which is illustrated by Marc Brown. Taste the Recipes - Beginning at 6:30 p.m. on Tues., May 8, the Friends of the Sandown Public Library will present a cookbook preview and tasting night featuring recipes from their recently published Sandown community cookbook titled, A Literary Feast. Join us to sample tempting dishes from the cookbook. Sandown community members contributed 350 tried-and-true favorite recipes to this special book. Copies of A Literary Feast may be purchased for $10.00. This professionally published cookbook is dedicated to the memory of Hazel Marlow, a longtime Friend of the Sandown Library. Proceeds from sales of the cookbook will help to provide equipment, museum passes, and materials for the Sandown Public Library.
