ATKINSON — Are you envisioning a yard with raised garden beds of beautiful, thriving vegetables? Or a deck where you can conveniently pluck a tomato, eggplant or pepper from its container? Enthusiastic gardeners and gardening families, come learn how to make this vision a reality on Mon., April 22, from 7:00 – 9:00 p.m., at Atkinson Community Center, 4 Main Street, Atkinson. Ron Christie, UNH Cooperative Extension Agricultural Resources Program Assistant and Activities Coordinator of Master Gardener Volunteers in Rockingham County will discuss all you’ll need to know to achieve these goals.

In 2007, Ron created Living Earth Farm, a “Certified Organic” micro farm in Brookline, that grows and sells vegetables and herbs. Ron particularly loves working with Rockingham County schools and Master Gardeners to create gardens that help youth “experience” science, math, literature, and art. He is passionate about teaching people how to grow their own nutritious food for better health and well being. Ron’s presentation will highlight two areas: designing and building raised beds for growing vegetables and maximizing growing space with containers.
