STRATHAM – Leslie Blaney, owner of Screamers Café (72 Portsmouth Avenue in Stratham), will hold a “Picnic Cooking” class at Wiggin Memorial Library (10 Bunker Hill Avenue, Stratham) on Mon., July 20, at 10:30 a.m. The class is geared towards boys and girls going into Kindergarten through Grade 5.

Leslie will guide children in making two different picnic foods and will talk about using items from summer gardens. Each child will receive a picnic booklet containing picnic tips, activity pages, and recipe ideas. All attendees will also have the opportunity to create (on paper) an original picnic recipe, and entries will be judged with a winner picked after the program. All recipes will be compiled in a “cookbook” to be on display at the library and Screamers. If weather permits, the program will be held in the garden area outside the Children’s Room. Rain location is the Multipurpose Room in the Stratham Municipal Center.

This event is part of the seven-week Summer Reading Program, “Summertime…and the Reading Is Easy,” celebrating summer fun. Registration is required. For more information please contact Jan Streelman at 772-4346 or
