EXETER — Each month, the Seacoast Artist Association challenges local artists to create a piece within the confines of a specific set of directions. Artists then submit their work to the association where it is displayed in their gallery located at 130 Water Street Exeter.
October’s unique challenge is a part of the SAA’s Mystery Kit Project, a project that aims to raise scholarship funds for seacoast high school seniors looking to further their education in the arts.
Throughout September, the SAA will be selling mystery boxes full of supplies that each artist will use to create their piece. Supplies are limited, so those who wish to participate are encouraged to call the Association at 603-778-8856 before stopping by to purchase a box. Artists may use anything in the box, including the box itself, to create their piece but are not required to use all the materials they are provided with and some additional materials are permitted. To see the full list of rules for the challenge, visit seacoastartist.org.
Once your piece is completed, it can be dropped off at the Water Street location on September 25. Artists may choose to sell their work, in which case, twenty-five percent of the sales will be put towards the Scholarship Fund.
