NEWFIELDS - The Friends of the Newfields Public Library today announced it is sponsoring the Second Annual Newfields Home Tour on Sun., September 23, from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Several homes of distinction will be open - either in part or in full - to the public for touring.

Tickets are $15.00 in advance and $18.00 on the day of the tour. The tour brochure can be picked up at the Newfields Public Library between 9:30 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. on September 23rd and provides admittance to each home. Proceeds from the Newfields Home Tour will benefit the Friends of the Library community and library enhancement programs. For information on how to purchase a ticket, please call 772-4658, or mail your check, made payable to the Friends of the Newfields Public Library, to P.O. Box 200, Newfields, NH, and your tickets will be mailed to you.

The homes featured on this year’s tour include several historic properties as well as some unusual and re-designed homes. The historic 1695 Hilton House will again be open for touring. This house retains much of its original atmosphere, including 19th century wallpapers, paneling and fireplaces. It sits across from the Hilton Training Field, where troops were mustered for the Revolutionary War and the War of 1812. The tour will also include the historic Newfields General Store, where a long-time Newfields resident, whose family once occupied the house, will be on-site to answer questions about the community and her family’s history.

The home tour is self-guided and includes a map and information guide that provides attendees information about each property. Participants are invited to have lunch at the Newfields General Store and spend some time at the Newfields Public Library to view old photographs and memorabilia about the town.

Anyone interested in volunteering is encouraged to call 772-4658 for more information.
