NEWTON – Hope everyone had a great time at our Cajun Cooking presentation! Many thanks to Chef Joy who prepared an assortment of culinary specialties from the Louisiana region. The evening was both educational and a dining delight!

The library has a wide collection of cookbooks and baking pans that are available for circulation. This time of year is ideal for exploring new recipes to add to your menus. In addition to our cookbooks, we also have an assortment of cooking magazines that are filled with interesting ideas.

Please consider donating nonperishable food items or toiletries to our collection box for Rockingham Community Action Assistance. The box is located in the library near the copier station. All items will be delivered to those in need and are greatly appreciated.

September is National Library Card Sign-Up Month! A special evening celebration will be held on Wed., September, 19 beginning at 4:00 p.m. All First Graders who wish to obtain their new card to start off the school year are invited to attend. In addition, complimentary cards will be issued to any patron who would like to have a new card or replacement. Come join us at the party and enjoy some refreshments too!

Genealogy Club will hold their next meeting at the Library on Wed., September 19 at 1:00 p.m. New members are always welcome to join and learn more about their ancestral heritage.

Morning Book Review Circle will hold their monthly discussion meeting on Wed., September 19 at 10:30 a.m. Join us for an informal book discussion and enjoy coffee and snack with fellow readers. The format for this group is readers’ choice.

Copies of Shanghai Girls by Lisa See are now available to check out. The Evening Book Club will discuss this interesting read on Mon., September 24 at 6:00 p.m.

Mark your calendars for a visit from WMUR’s meteorologist, Josh Judge! Josh will be here on Wed., September 26 at 6:00 p.m. Lots of interesting information on our changing New England weather and more! This event is free and open to the public.
