HAMPSTEAD – In late 2008, Nicole Doughty Fiset, 35, and a member of the Timberlane High School class of 1991, was in the tub with her two year old daughter Avery. Avery slipped and bumped Nicole in the chest and the pain was immeasurable. Nicole believed at that moment something was just not right. After going to her general doctor and then having a biopsy, it was confirmed that the lump found in her breast was indeed cancer. Recently separated, alone with her two year old daughter, this incredible young woman began the battle of her life. Nicole had to take a leave of absence from her beloved job: Middle School Teacher at Hampstead Middle School. She would rely on remaining sick days and the sick bank from her fellow teachers. Nicole has been through multiple chemotherapy treatments. Some were incredibly scary leaving her in ICU due to allergic reactions to the medications. The injections she must take with her chemotherapy treatments cost $3400 and are not covered by insurance. Medical premiums, co-pays, hospital bills, parking, commuting, mortgage, utilities…they are all adding up. Without income, this is getting to be very scary each day going to the mail. Her friends are asking others to help this incredibly strong mother, friend and woman. They want their friend to get better and not have the stress of the medical bills and loss of income to wear on her as she struggles to regain her strength for another chemotherapy treatment. A benefit (that is almost sold out) will be held for Nicole on March 7 at Zorvino Vineyards. Wonderful businesses in the communities in Southern NH and the Merrimack Valley have donated incredibly to the silent auction and raffles. But, more help is needed. Organizers are looking for gift certificates, silent auction items and monetary donations if you or your business can assist in any way. These items will be auctioned off or given directly to Nicole and Avery if they need the assistance in that form. Any and all help is truly appreciated and welcomed! If you can help, please email email@example.com or visit the event page on Facebook under Nicole Dought Fiset Benefit. Organizers know the economic times are a hardship for most families today, but perhaps you could help out a lifelong resident of Plaistow, giving teacher to fifth graders in Hampstead, and loving mom with a simple donation in any denomination or in any creative way. Donations may also be made to the Nicole Doughty Fiset Trust c/o Merrimack Valley Federal Credit Union, Rt. 125 / Plaistow Road, Plaistow, NH 03865, Acct: 165743.
