AMESBURY, MA — The Whittier Home will host the 21st annual Tapestry of Voices Poetry reading in the Victorian garden of the Whittier Home on Sun., August 11 from 3:00-5:00 p.m. This event is a beloved tradition at the Whittier Home and features outstanding poets from the surrounding communities reading both works of Whittier and their own compositions in a relaxing garden setting. Chris Bryant, president of the Whittier Home declares that this is her favorite event of the year!

Tapestry of Voices was co-founded by Lainie Senechal, Amesbury’s first Poet Laureate and Harris Gardner, extensively published poet and Poetry Editor of Ibbetson Street magazine.

We will also host the winners of the 2019 “Gathering of Verses” Poetry contest, reading their winning entries.

This event is free and open to the public. Light refreshments will be served after the readings.

The Whittier Home is open every Saturday from 11:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. to take a tour of the Museum and learn about the North Shore’s most famous poet and abolitionist!
