HAMPSTEAD — Due to the continuing health and safety concerns surrounding Coronavirus (COVID-19), the Hampstead Public Library is CLOSED until at least Mon., April 6.
CLOSURE: On Monday afternoon, March 16, the Library Board of Trustees voted to cancel all programs and meetings and to close the Library immediately. The plan is to reopen on April 6 at 9:00 a.m. The Library Director, Rosemary Krol, and the Board of Trustees will work with Town officials and observe directives from the state and federal level in order to reevaluate the situation in the coming weeks.
LIBRARY MATERIALS: Library patrons who have materials at their home may keep them until the Library reopens without fear of fines. They can also choose to put them through the book-drop at the front of the Library.
SERVICES: Library cardholders are encouraged to make use of the many free online services which the Library offers. By going to the website, www.HampsteadLibrary.org, they can get links and directions for around-the-clock access to downloadable books with Libby and Hoopla, many newspapers with NewsBank, and full-color digital magazines with Flipster and Libby. In addition, there are 500+ online classes with Universal Class, thousands of online video art & craft classes with Creativebug, 110+ language learning lessons with Transparent Language, and several research databases. They can also access music, movies, TV shows, e-books, and audiobooks with Hoopla.
Anyone who has questions and needs assistance can email circulation@HampsteadLibrary.org. The staff will be checking email regularly. For those who need wifi, it can still be accessed in the Library’s parking lot.
EVENTS: All Library events and meetings are canceled through at least April 6, and some have been rescheduled. The Stories from Mount Washington event with author Dan Szczesny has been rescheduled to Tues., May 26 at 7:00 p.m. The Ted Reinstein “Wicked Pissed” event has been rescheduled to Tues., September 8 at 7:00 p.m. The April Community Tea has been canceled; however, the volunteers and staff hope to have a Tea in May and June.
