HAMPSTEAD — For our first summer Tale of a Tailed creature, the Hampstead Public Library has a special program with Thomas Farmen and his dog Bessie. Join us on Thurs., June 17 at 6:30 p.m. for "Watching the Lights Go Out". Thomas tells us about Bessie’s unexpected diagnosis of terminal blindness at a young age, and her transition to sightlessness. In the process, Bessie unwittingly becomes an expert mentor and teacher for growing older with grace and optimism. Come for a discussion and a book signing with Thomas and his charming chocolate Lab, Bessie. This is an indoor event, and space is limited. Advance registration is required via the Library website Events Calendar, or call 603-329-6411.
The Hampstead Public Library has the Summer of Fine Amnesty going on now. If you have books, movies, or other Library materials that are overdue, return them and you will not be charged a fine! By bringing back the Library items, you make them available for other patrons to borrow, and you make the Library very happy. It’s a win-win-win situation. Find those books that slipped under your car’s seat, or that DVD that’s under the couch. It’s time to return things to their Library home in the Summer of Fine Amnesty.
Registration for the Summer Reading Program opens soon. It can be done online or in-person at the Library. Starting June 14, you can find the registration forms on the Kids Homepage, Teens (Middle School) Homepage, and the Entertainment & Research/Adult Summer Reading page on www.HampsteadLibrary.org. Join our summer of Tails & Tales fun! The more you read, the more chances you have to win great prizes.
To get a preview of the Summer Reading Program for children, visit the Library’s YouTube page click on the YouTube icon in the upper right corner of the Library’s website, and choose Hampstead NH Library SRP 2021. This brief video features Miss Jenn and Odie the Goldendoodle!
Tails & Tales Summer Storytime begins on Mon., June 21 at 9:30 am. Grab a blanket or folding chairs and join Miss Jenn on the lawn for an animal-themed Storytime! Sing, read, and make a craft each week. You may also take the craft home to complete. This program is geared toward preschoolers, but siblings are welcome to attend. We ask that attendees maintain appropriate social distance. If we need to cancel because of poor weather, that information will be posted on the Library’s Facebook page by 9:00 a.m. or feel free to call the Library and ask.
Pizza & Pages is back on Wed., June 30! Students in grades 5 and up can join Jenn and Ms. Connors on the Library lawn for good pizza and great book discussions. Tell us what you love to read, and find your next great summer reads! Register in advance via the Events Calendar on www.HampsteadLibrary.org.
There are multiple events for kids and teens planned every week during the Summer Reading Program! Both in-person and virtual events, as well as take-home kits. Get ready for the fun!
