EAST KINGSTON —Working at the library is a bit like working at a candy shop. Each new box is full of delicious surprises.

This fall the selection seems particularly appealing.

It is always a pleasure to find a "new" author and the books I have been enjoying recently have satisfied that little addition amply.

“All the Light We Cannot See” by Anthony Doere is a perfect book. The thread of delicate connections grow with each page turned…in alternating chapters we come to know two brave teenagers caught in a world of war...At a time when it was almost impossible to be true to yourself…these beautifully flawed characters share a moment, the memory of a piece of music and a long lost voice on a radio receiver...such small encounters on which events pivot...our lives so quickly over when measured against that of the brightest diamond...

Our book club is reading “Mr. Penunbra's 24 hour Bookstore” by Robin Sloan. Join us to discuss this clever blend in which “The DaVinci Code” meets the land of Google.
