DANVILLE — We are open our original pre-COVID hours. No appointment is necessary to visit the library for browsing materials and using a computer, etc. Visits should be kept to an hour.

The Library Board of Trustees has amended the mask policy to adhere to CDC guidelines. All over the age of three, who are not vaccinated, are asked to wear a mask inside the library. Masks are not required for outdoor events unless requested by a performer or vendor.

Curbside is now offered only on Wednesdays or by special request.

Join us, and local outdoor educator, Kim Cote, for an afternoon in the back garden on Thurs., June 10, from 3:30-5:00 p.m. We’ll be dividing a few plants and also sending you home with origami paper seed cups planted with cherry tomatoes and peas.

Registration is open for our annual Summer Reading Program for children, teens, and adults. We hope you will join us for a fun-filled summer packed with stories, activities, programs, and prizes related to this year’s theme – “Tails and Tales”.

All registered readers are awarded raffle tickets based on how many books (or even magazines) they have read, and prizes are picked weekly. Logs are available for children and teens; adults are on an honor system. Please call us or stop by to register.

Our official Summer Reading Program kick-off event for children will be on the morning of Thurs., June 24 when we welcome the baby animals of Charmingfare Farm. After a brief presentation, children will be invited to pet the animals. Registration is required. We are excited to partner with local naturalist and outdoor educator, Kim Cote, to offer a series of programs including Nature Walks for all ages. We will explore local conservation lands looking for evidence of animals and habitats. The outings will also include stories for children and suggested reading lists. Stay tuned for dates and further information.

Other programs and activities include a Chicken Little Tale on a Trail from June 19-July 3, STEAM activities for kids, a poetry workshop, stuffed animal Story Time, a virtual pet show, a teen book club, and more. Weekly Thursday StoryTImes are back. Join our Children’s Librarians for stories, outdoor activities and take home craft. Toddlers meet at 10:00 a.m. and Pre-K at 11:30 a.m. Registration is required; call 603-382-6733.


Our Book Mystery and Thriller Book Club meets on the first Thursday of the month at 6:30 p.m. The group meets outdoors. The July book is “The Double Whammy” by Carl Hiaasen. For more information, please contact Carolyn Killian at the library at 603-382-6733.


Requests for curbside pick-up has declined as more people have visited us. We understand, however, there are some residents who may not feel comfortable coming inside or for whom curbside is a convenience. We will offer curbside pick-up on Wednesdays from 10:00 a.m.-6:00 p.m. Requests for homebound delivery or other special requests are welcome.
