ATKINSON — The Atkinson Cemetery is one of over 1,200 plus locations nationwide that is registered with the Wreaths Across America program. It is a program that remembers our fallen heroes, honors those who served and promotes the value of freedom.

They have 315 veterans including a Congressional Medal of Honor recipient (George Parsons Dow) interned in this town cemetery. Their goal is to place a “Remembrance Wreath” on each of the Atkinson veteran gravesites.

Volunteers will be soliciting local businesses, organizations and individuals in the community to help with fundraising efforts. Wreath sponsorships are $15.00 per wreath and must be in by Mon., November 25.

Sponsorships for the Atkinson Cemetery can be made via www.wreathsacrossamerica.org/fundraising. If using the website, be sure the sponsorship is directed to “Atkinson NH Cemetery”. Cash or checks can be dropped off with Noriko Yoshida-Travers at the Atkinson Community Center, 4 Main Street. Please make checks payable to “Town of Atkinson, Veterans Wreath” or “Wreaths Across America (NHACAN)”.
