HAVERHILL, MA — The Ray of Light Recovery Center is hosting a Recovery Awareness Walk & Festival on Sat., September 25 in Haverhill. This event is open to all. Walkers will kick off the event beginning at 8:30 a.m. by registering at the Common Ground Café parking lot, 194 Winter Street. Festivities begin in GAR Park (108 Main Street) at 10:00 a.m.: coffee and snacks, music, cornhole, and other games, testimonies, recovery and community resources, local band Heaven’s Child, and chili and hotdogs for lunch. The event ends at 3:00 p.m.
Proceeds will go to Ray of Light Recovery Cafe and Resource Center, which is opening September 27 at 92 Merrimack Street (above the A-1 Deli) in Haverhill. The Ray of Light Recovery Center is a relatively new organization serving those who struggle with drug or alcohol addiction.
September is National Recovery Month; events during this month are held to promote and support new evidence-based treatment and recovery practices, the emergence of a strong and proud recovery community, and the dedication of service providers and community members across the nation who make recovery in all its forms possible.
