KINGSTON — The Kingston Veterans Club will be organizing a rolling parade for Memorial Day. The slow-moving vehicle-only parade will start rolling at 1:00 p.m. Mon., May 31, from Town Hall and end on North Road just outside the fence at Greenwood cemetery. There, they plan to hold a short Memorial Day ceremony.
Participants and observers must continue to practice social distancing and wear masks when with others in the face of the COVID-19 pandemic.
As a result of the success of the parade last year, the route this year is planned to be similar: From Town Hall, head across the street to Kingston Pizza, left on West Main street, Right at the Fire Station on Rockrimmon Road, Left onto Ball Road all the way to Danville Road. Left onto Danville Road, Left to Main Street. Follow West Main Street (past Josiah's restaurant and What's the Scoop) to Church Street. At the Veterans Club, take a left onto North Road, and all parking on North Road at Greenwood Cemetery.
Everyone loves a parade and local police, fire and Veterans plan to be part of it, and encourage others that wish to properly observe Memorial Day to participate in their vehicle to practice social distancing with a display of appropriate banners or flags.
