PLAISTOW — Residents of Plaistow, Atkinson, Danville, Hampstead, Kingston, and Chester can bring their household hazardous waste to the Plaistow Municipal Household Hazardous Waste Collection on Sat., April 24, from 9:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m., at the Plaistow Recreation Facility, 51 Old County Road. The Town of Plaistow sponsors this collection in conjunction with the other towns listed above.
They will recycle the items or dispose of them in an environmentally safe manner. Proof of residency is required. Because of the safety concerns at the collection site, please always remain in your vehicle.
Common household products like lawn and garden pesticides, automotive fluids, leftover oil-based paints, and other potentially harmful chemicals can pose a significant threat to the environment if not disposed of properly.
Items allowed for disposal include: old gasoline, gas/oil mixture, brake fluid, transmission fluid, paint thinners, varnish, antifreeze, mercury batteries, mercury (fluorescent) lamps, fertilizers, fungicides, herbicides, pesticides, and pool chemicals. Bring products that say: caution, toxic, pesticides, combustible, poison, flammable, or danger. NOTE: There is a ten (10) gallon limit per household.
YOU CAN NOT BRING: radioactive, explosives, biological, infectious, fire extinguishers, medical wastes, ammunition, propane cylinders, or Latex Paints.
