DOVER — If you are looking for a volunteer opportunity, consider becoming a CASA and sign up for the pre-service training that begins on Wed., March 4, in Dover. CASA volunteer advocates are compassionate, caring adults who make sure the needs of victimized children remain a priority during abuse and neglect proceedings in an over-burdened child protection system. Volunteers spend time getting to know the child(ren) they are working with and the important adults in that child’s life so they may make qualified, unbiased recommendations to a judge about what they believe is in the best interests of the child’s future.
The training schedule is as follows: Wed., March 4 from 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m., Fri., March 13 from 1:00 - 8:00 p.m., Sat., March 14 from 10:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m., Sat., March 21 from 10:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m., Tues., March 24 from 5:00 - 8:30 p.m., and Thurs., March 26 from 5:00 - 8:30 p.m.
Before beginning training, you must fill out an application and wait for a callback. You may complete the application online at www.casanh.org/onlineapplication.
