EPPING — On July 4, an informal raising of the American flag occurred on the front lawn of the Rockingham Grange in Epping! The Rockingham Grange in Epping is beginning a new resurgence; planning for refurbishing the historic Grange hall, bringing in new members, and generally planning to bring new life to this great heritage of Grange, the first unification of farmers in the mid-west following the Civil War to preserve farm land for grazing, amid railroads and oil companies desiring these same lands.
The funds for the flagpole and flag were provided by the American Legion #51 in Epping. Members of the Grange dug the deep hole required as well as poured concrete and planted flowers around the pole. A solar light will soon be added to keep the flag lighted at all times. This is only the first step in plans to renovate this great building and expand this great organization in our community. Soon, an informative meeting will be announced to invite everyone to come and learn about the Grange and how everyone can become a member and help with this exciting project!
