SANDOWN — Ballroom Dance is on its way. When was the last time you tried something new or did anything special for yourself? Sandown Recreation offers the ever popular eight-week Ballroom Dance sessions on Sunday evenings beginning September 22nd and running until November 24 with no class Columbus Day or Veteran's Day weekends.

Now in its 8th year of instruction with Bill and Maria Vanderhoof, you'll easily learn the steps to the dances of Swing; Foxtrot; Rhumba; and Merengue. Small classes mean lots of individual help with instruction. Have a special wedding or event coming up? You'll be ready once you take the course.

Classes take place at the Edward Garvey Recreation Facility located at 25 Pheasant Run Drive in Sandown and are held on Sunday evenings for Beginner I at 5:30 p.m. for 45 minutes. The cost is $110.00 per couple for residents and $120.00 per couple for non-residents. You'll be hard-pressed to find a more affordable way to learn how to dance.

Registration must be received no later than Thurs., September 19 and may be mailed or dropped off at the recreation office. Please call the recreation office at 603-887-1872 for space availability prior to sending registration, as space is limited. Participants may wear comfortable clothing and will need to have footwear that has either a leather or synthetic (not rubber) sole so that your feet will glide on the floor and not stick. Visit the recreation website at and navigate to the recreation page for all information and registration form. Participants must provide their own partner who may be anyone over the age of 16.
