Tree of Light Ceremony

NEWBURYPORT, MA —The Anna Jaques Hospital Aid Association cordially invites the public to its Annual Tree of Light Ceremony. The event will take place at the Highland Avenue entrance to the hospital, on Mon., December 3, at 5:00 p.m. The Newburyport High School Varsity Chorus will provide music, and all are welcome to join in the singing. After the music, light refreshments will be served in the Higgins Conference Room.

A donation puts both a light on the tree and a loved one’s name on the Tree of Light Scroll, to be displayed in the lobby and on the AJH.org website, and to be published in the Aid’s winter newsletter.

For each name, there is a minimum donation of $5.00 Checks may be made payable to the AJH Aid Association and mailed c/o Volunteer Office, 25 Highland Avenue, Newburyport, MA 01950.  They may also be dropped off at that address.

In order to ensure publication on the Tree of Light Scroll, the names of those being memorialized or honored should be received by November 16.

This event has become a community tradition; it is a meaningful way to remember loved ones, to embrace the season of giving and to brighten the winter months.

  • Successful Conservation Collaboration

On June 17, the sophomore class of Sanborn Regional High School made a field trip to the Old Frye Town Forest, one of Kingston's five town forests, to assist the Kingston Conservation Commission in the removal of invasive plants from the area near the trailhead, notably, an extensive and aggressive patch of Japanese knotweed. This project was the culmination of the school's third year of intra-curricular collaboration with the Commission to address local environmental issues, and to make conservation an area of study and research. Congratulations from the Commission to the teachers and students for a job well done!

The Hampstead Athletic Club congratulates the following recipients of the Ray Flaherty Athletic Scholarship, Natalie Fabrizio and Connor Kwiecien. Each year the scholarship is awarded to a former middle school athlete who participates in athletics during their senior year at Pinkerton Academy, and who demonstrate leadership qualities, sportsmanship and citizenship. This year due to Ray Flaherty’s generosity the club was able to award two scholarships.
