    The staff at Empower Martial Arts in Newton would like to acknowledge and congratulate their first group of students who have earned their Black Belts. These individuals have put in a great amount of time and effort into their Shotokan Karate training. These students have shown excellent character and are great role models in their communities and schools. Through training in the martial arts these students have gained an appreciation and understanding of the value of hard work and dedication. The staff is proud to have these remarkable people representing the school as their first group of Black Belts. Keep up the great work! Congratulations!     Jonesboro, ME — Keith A. Bisson, known to most as Tyke, 55, of Jonesboro, Maine, died after a long battle with cancer on May 6, 2014. Keith leaves his wife, Penny (Geel) Bisson. In addition, Tyke leaves his son, Michael Bisson; his grandson, Joel Bisson; as well as a granddaughter, Valerie Bisson.

    Kingston, NH — Mary Louise (Meeks) Rodgers, longtime resident of Kingston, N.H., and recently of Haverhill, Mass., passed away on May 11, 2014 after a long illness. She was born on April 2, 1939, in Epping, N.H., the daughter of the late Samuel G. and Edna E. Meeks Sr. She graduated from Tilton High School with the class of 1957. She spent most of her life in Kingston where she was well-known and well-loved.

  • Sandra Wagoner, 52

    Merrimac, MA — Sandy entered into eternal peace at home in Tennessee on April 11. She was born in Malden, Mass., and went to Haverhill and Pentucket schools. She worked at AT&T in North Andover, at the shoe shop and nursing homes in Haverhill, and lastly at Danville store in Danville, N.H. Sandy moved to Tennessee in 2011 to welcome the birth of her first grandchild. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Jennifer Carr; father, Roland Gurley, and grandparents, Virginia and Edson Peck. She leaves her loving memories to be cherished by her husband of 31 years, John Wagoner; son, Brandon Wagoner and his wife, Shannon; grandson, Derek; parents, Robert and Elaine Leatham; aunts, Sharon (Arthur) Benjamin, Nancy (Ed) Hamilton, Gloria Crumel, Ruth McKewen, and Uncle Charlie Peck. Also, several cousins, nieces, nephews, loving in-laws and a host of longtime friends.
