HAMPSTEAD — In Week 4 of the Hampstead Men’s Masters Basketball League, Captain Ken Wolenksi’s Village Vinyl (1-3) defeated
Captain Pat Curry’s United Business Machines (1-3), 62-45, while in the second game, Captain Craig Wlodyka’s L&M Construction
(3-1) slipped by Captain Stan Lewis’ East Coast Lumber (2-2), 43-39. In the final game Captain Dave Rowell’s Gelinas Siding
(4-0) outlasted Captain Bob Dudal’s Dunkin’ Donuts East Hampstead (1-3), 44-40.
Village Vinyl 62 (1-3)
UBM 45 (1-3)
UBM took a slim 15-13 lead after the first period, but went cold in the second frame as Village took a 29-23 lead at the half.
Village got the hot hand in the third period and grabbed a commanding 49-34 lead and UBM never recovered as Village cruised
to the 62-45 win. Sean Morrissey led Village with 22 points and got a lot of help from Jim Whitehouse with 19 points, Tim
McDonald 7 points, Mike Desmond 5 points, and Marty Auger and Ross Huntington with 4 points each. UBM was led by John Keisling
with 12 points along with Harry Williams 11 points, Bill Whearty 9 points, Don Bell 7 points, Dick Danner 4 points and Pat
Curry with 2 points Village led in field goals, 19-17, and three-pointers, 3-1. UBM led in free throw shooting hitting 8 of
14 for 57% versus Village’s 15 of 31 for 48%.
L&M Construction 43 (3-1)
East Coast 39 (2-2)
In a low scoring first period, East Coast took a 12-8 lead, and both teams continued the defensive pressure as East Coast
still led at the half, 20-18. The third period saw much of the same, but L&M was able to take the lead, 26-25, going into
the final period and hit some key shots to come away with the 43-39 win. Scott Doyle and Matt Tulley both had 11 points to
pace L&M and were followed by Bob Edwards with 6 points, Kevin Young 5 points, Terry Crump and Jeff Steenson 4 points each,
and Paul Ramos with 2 points. East Coast was led by Craig McGuire with 16 points followed by Stan Lewis with 12 points, Kevin
Meagher 8 points and Russ Evans with 2 points. East Coast led in field goals, 17-15, while L&M led in three-pointers, 1-0,
and free throw shooting, hitting 10 of 19 for 53% versus East Coast’s 5 of 16 for 31%
Gelinas Siding 44 (4-0)
Dunkin’ Donuts EH 40 (1-3)
Gelinas jumped out to a 16-11 first period lead, but Dunkin’ came back to cut the lead to a single point, 25-24, at the half.
Dunkin’ was able to wrest the lead from Gelinas and led 40-39 going into the final period, but were only able to score a single
point in handing the game to Gelinas, 44-40. Jason Kimball led Gelinas with 14 points followed by Steve Thompson with 10
points, Dave Rowell 8 points, Dave Goyette 6 points and John Suprenant with 5 points. Dunkin’ was led by Dano Anderson with
15 points along with Fred Malcolm 8 points, John Sheehan and Ben Ruggles 6 points each, and Wayne Hamilton with 5 points.
Gelinas led in field goals, 16-8, while Dunkin’ led in three-pointers, 5-3, and free throws, hitting 9 of 12 for 75% versus
Gelinas’ 3 of 10 for 30%.
