Gymnasts Win Big

HAMPSTEAD- The Phantom Gymnastics Xcel and JO Compulsory Teams competed in the Yellow Jackets Holiday Invitational, held November 30 - December 2, 2012 in Middleton, MA. Hosted by Yellow Jackets Gymnastics, gymnastics clubs from Massachusetts and New Hampshire participated. Several local Phantom girls from the surrounding areas participated with outstanding results!

For the Xcel Program, the Advanced, Intermediate, and Novice Teams won first place while the Rookie group took second place. For the JO Team, Level 9 finished first, Levels 4, 5, 6, and 7 took second and Level 8 came in fourth.

For the JO Program:

Level 4: Haley Farrell of Atkinson came in eighth place with an All-Around (AA) of 33.425 in the Child Division. Kayla Pech of Atkinson showed a great result in her second competitive meet with an AA Score of 33.05 in the Junior Division.

Level 5: In the Child Division, Lily Daniels of Hampstead placed seventh on Vault, fifth on Floor and seventh AA with a Score of 35.1. Jocelyn Hooper of Atkinson placed sixth on Bars, third on Beam and finished eleventh overall with an AA Score of 34.65. Lauren Hayes of Plaistow, placed ninth on Bars. Jordan Lavery of Atkinson finished eighth on Beam and tenth on Floor. Hana Phaneuf of Hampstead finished seventh on Vault and fifth on Bars. In the Junior Division, Brianna Paleno of Hampstead finished first on Bars and Floor while finishing third overall with an AA Score of 35.95. Zoe Demers of Hampstead finished second on Bars and Beam and fourth overall with an AA Score of 35.75. Shannon Carroll of Kingston finished first on Vault and ninth overall with an AA Score of 34.25. For the Senior Division, Abbey Jordan of Atkinson finished strong with an AA Score of 31.9.

Level 6: Annika Pinyochon of Hampstead finished first on Vault , third on Bars and second overall with an AA Score of 35.525.

    LAWRENCE — Marie Rose (Robidoux) Audy, passed away at her home surrounded by her family, after suffering a stroke in April. She was born in Lawrence and was the daughter of the late Rose A. (Betit) and Alfred Robidoux, originally of Quebec, Canada. She was predeceased by her husband of 28 years, Armand Joseph Audy, who passed away on June 28, 1976.

  • Francis M. Lurvey, 76

    Bar Harbor, ME — Francis M. Lurvey passed away Sunday, June 22, in Bar Harbor, Maine, after battling cancer. By his side were his sons, Edwin Lurvey and Steven Lurvey and his niece and husband, Debra and Richard Carey, as well as cousin, Marion McDonald. He was the son of Edwin R Lurvey (Bar Harbor) and Delia Amazeen (Dexter). He is survived by five children, a stepson, and their families. His sons, Edwin and wife April, Steven and wife, Pam, David and his daughter, Meghan, as well as his daughters, Lorraine and Ellen and her husband, Paul DiScipio with daughters, Katherine and Julia, and his stepson, Brian Faulkner and wife, Jody with children, Trevor, Rachel, and Keith. He is also survived by his sister, Sheryl, and many nieces and nephews including Frank Lurvey and Elaine Langer. Francis was predeceased by his twin brother, Frank, as well as his brothers, Edwin and Erwin. He was also predeceased by his longtime companion, Brian and Edwin’s mother, Maureen Faulkner and former wife, Roberta Lurvey Gilmore.
