Men's Masters Basketball

---- — HAMPSTEAD – In Week 5 of the Hampstead Masters Basketball League, Captain Craig Wlodyka’s L&M Construction (4-1) knocked off

Captain Dave Rowell’s Gelinas Siding (4-1), 57-40, while in the second game Stan Lewis’ East Coast Lumber (3-2) needed overtime

to defeat Captain Ken Wolenksi’s Village Vinyl (1-4), 55-45. In the final game, Captain Bob Dudal’s Dunkin’ Donuts East Hampstead

(1-4) outlasted Captain Pat Curry’s United Business Machines (1-4), 60-55.

L&M took a slim 10-7 lead after the first period, but took control in the second period and led at the half, 27-11. Gelinas

tried to get back into the game, but L&M maintained control as they led 43-25 after the third quarter and cruised to the 57-40

win. Matt Tulley and Scott Doyle each had 17 points to lead L&M followed by Bob Edwards with 10 points, Jeff Steenson 6 points,

Howie Steadman 4 points and Kevin Young with 3 points. Gelinas was led by Jason Kimball with 10 points, Dave Goyette 9 points,

Steve Thompson and Dave Wojichowski 6 points each, Dave Rowell 5 points, John Suprenant 3 points and Mark Raumikaitis with

2 points. L&M led in field goals, 17-16, three pointers, 3-1, and free throw shooting, hitting 14 of 21 for 67% versus Gelinas’

5 of 12 for 42%.

UBM 55


Dunkin’ led after the first quarter, 15-8, but UBM was able to cut the lead to two points at the half, 29-27. The lead went

back and forth in the third frame, but Dunkin’ still led 42-39 going into the final period and was able to hang on for the

60-55 win. Dano Anderson led Dunkin’ with 28 points and got help from Fred Malcolm with 14 points, Wayne Hamilton 9 points,

Ben Ruggles 5 points, and Bob Dudal with 4 points. UBM was led by Bill Whearty’s 32 points followed by Don Bell with 11 points,

Kevin Crump 6 points, and John Keisling, Dick Danner, and Harry Willams with 2 points each. UBM led in field goals, 27-20,

while Dunkin’ led in three-pointers, 3-0. Dunkin’ hit 11 of 20 free throws for 55% while UBM made the single free throw they

had.

East Coast Lumber 55 (OT)

Village Vinyl 45


Village came out running and grabbed a 15-9 first quarter lead. East Coast put a dent into the lead, but Village still led

at the half, 29-24. East Coast finally grabbed the lead, 36-35, and a closely played fourth frame ended up with the game being

tied, 45-45, forcing the overtime. East Coast dominated the start of the OT and Village never recovered allowing for East

Coast to come away with the 55-45 win. Craig McGuire led East Coast with 17 points, along with Scott True with 10 points,

Gary Cebula 9 points, Bill Demers and Keith Therrien 6 points each, Stan Lewis 4 points and Russ Evans with 3 points. Village

was led by Mike Desmond with 14 points followed by Sean Morrissey with 11 points, Ross Huntington 6 points, Ken Wolenski and

Tim McDonald 5 points each, and Marty Auger and Scott Suszek with 2 points each. East Coast led in field goals, 18-14, and

free throw shooting, hitting 13 of 20 for 65% versus Village’s 8 of 18 for 44% Village led in three-pointers, 3-2.
