50+ Men's Basketball

HAMPSTEAD - Commissioner Mike McConnell is pleased to announce the start of the sign up and try-out for the Hampstead Over-The-Hill Men’s Basketball League season.

The league is open to Hampstead residents first and, if there are still any slots for extra players, they will be considered on a first come bases, as long as you show up and play in the start of the try-out.

Players must be fifty years of age or turn fifty before July 1, 2013. All new players must bring proof of residency, age, pay, and attend the 6:00 p.m. scrimmage to qualify to play – there’s no exception to this rule! All former players must show up to sign up and pay anytime before 8:00 p.m. League sign - up is Wed., March 27, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., at the Hampstead Memorial Gym.

New players must show up for the tryout, pay, and be ready to scrimmage or you will be ineligible to play. All players must sign up and pay the registration fee when signing up to play. The resident’s fee is $105.00, and the non-resident’s fee is $115.00.

The games start Wed., April 3, at 6:00 p.m., 7:15 p.m., and 8:30 p.m., and the public is welcome to attend free of charge.

The games consist of six teams and will play ten game regular season, plus single elimination play-offs and shirts are provided. Players wishing to play should know the games are physical and should have some experience for safety procedures. Games are officiated by qualified referees. Jewelry such as watches, rings, and neck chains are not allowed to be worn.

    Ft. Gibson, OK — Catherine F. "Kitty" (Clements) Brown passed away February 17, 2013, at her home in Ft. Gibson, Okla., after a brave battle with cancer. Kitty was born in Brentwood, N.H., on April 21, 1946, to the late Chester H. Clements and Catherine F. (Morse) Clements. She was raised in Kingston, N.H., and graduated from Sanborn Seminary. She lived for many years on Plum Island, Mass. While living on Plum Island, she was a columnist and photographer for The Daily News of Newburyport, as well as a school bus driver.

  • Ted "Teddy" Bolduc

    Fremont, N.H. — Ted “Teddy” Burleigh Bolduc, was born the youngest son of Phyllis and Joseph Bolduc Sr., on May 22, 1962. He died suddenly April 8, 2013, after a brief illness. Ted lived for most of his life in Fremont and Raymond. He was well known for his skills with heavy equipment and worked all his life in construction and excavation in the Fremont and Epping area. In addition to his work, he loved ice hockey, baseball, hunting, country music, and animals, especially his dog Finlay. He was very proud of, and also loved by, his very large family.
