Hurricanes Have Great Season

SALEM – The 12U Northeast Hurricanes girls Class A softball team is based out of Salem, and is comprised of girls from Salem, Windham, Pelham, Atkinson, Hampstead, Hampton, Dracut MA, North Andover MA, Andover MA, Lowell MA, and Tewksbury MA. The team secured a bid to the ASA National Championships in Maryland this past fall, and has been working very hard to be ready. They participated in an indoor Winter League as well as an AAU Spring League to sharpen their skills.

The team swept through the ASA Class “A” New England Regional Championships double-elimination tournament needing to play just the four-game minimum. The team played stellar ball - beating teams from Massachusetts, Rhode Island, and two from New Hampshire by a combined score of 48-7. The Hurricane pitching staff of Niamh Walker, Teagan Trant, and Molly Carabatsos struck out 33 opposing batters and gave up just 11 hits over the course of four games.

The Hurricane bats were out in full force collecting 56 hits and drawing 16 walks. Teagan Trant led the way reaching base 10 out of 12 times at the plate, including a 4-4 performance in the championship game. MK Livingston of Danville was outstanding behind the plate as always, throwing out every runner that attempted to steal. She even threw out a runner from her knees!

These girls are having an amazing season and it is attributed to the hard work and dedication from the girls as well as a total commitment from their families in our quest to build a winning team.

The 12U Northeast Hurricanes Blue team members are: Lindsey Dumond, Hailey Cockroft, Lauren Moore, Jordan Hillyer, Molly Carabatsos, MK Livingston, Niamh Walker, Teagan Trant, Jillian Webber, Amanda Fay, Sarah Ratcliffe, and Courtney Latta. Congratulations to all on a wonderful season.
