---- — HAMPSTEAD – In last week’s action in the Hampstead Men’s Masters Basketball League, Captain Stan Lewis’ Village Vinyl (5-5) hung on to defeat Captain Craig Wlodyka’s L&M Construction (3-7), 61-56, while in the second game Captain Paul Ramos’ Boutin Glass (9-1) ran by Captain Dave Rowell’s East Coast Lumber (4-6), 75-63. In the final game, Captain Pat Curry’s Gelinas Siding (5-5) defeated Captain Wayne Hamilton’s Dunkin’ Donuts East Hampstead (4-6), 55-43.

Village grabbed an early 19-13 first quarter lead and extended their advantage by a point, 31-24, at the half. Playing with only five players, Village got their lead to double digits going into the final frame, 52-37, and held off a final push by L&M to stagger to the 61-56 win. Matt Tulley dropped in18 points to lead Village and got a lot of help from Dave Goyette with 15 points and Kevin Crump and Jim Whitehouse with 14 points each. L&M was led by Craig Anderson with 17 points, Calvin Coleman 16 points, Don Bell 10 points, Sean Morrissey 7 points, Craig Wlodyka 4 points and Tony Serino with 2 points. Village led in field goals, 24-17, while L&M led in three-pointers, 6-1. Both teams hit 67% of their free throws as Village went 10 for 15 and L&M went 4 for 6.

East Coast Lumber 63

A tight first quarter saw the score knotted at 15-15, but Boutin heated up and took a 39-33 lead at the half. East Coast went ice-cold in the third frame and Boutin took advantage as they ran up their lead to 57-38 and cruised in the final period for the 75-63 win. Scott True scorched the nets for 31 points to lead Boutin followed by Kevin Meagher with 14 points, Craig McGuire 12 points, Tim McDonald 8 points, Francis Roux 6 points and John Boutin with 4 points. East Coast was led by Dano Anderson with 28 points along with Bill Demers 13 points, Jason Kimball 12 points and Joe Dengeleski with 9 points. Boutin led in field goals, 29-13, while East Coast led in three-pointers, 8-3. East Coast hit 13 of 23 free throws for 57% while Boutin hit 8 of 17 for 47%.

The score was tied, 8-8, in a slow moving first quarter but the pace picked up a bit as Gelinas took a 25-22 lead at the half. Both teams continued to play tough defense but Gelinas was able to add to their lead after the third frame, 40-33, and held Dunkin’ at bay in the final frame for the 55-43 win. Fred Malcolm led Gelinas with 23 points followed by John Keisling with 12 points, Ken Gelinas 8 points, Steve Tripodi 6 points, Russ Evans 4 points and Pat Curry with 2 points and 12 assists. Dunkin’ was led by Ben Ruggles with 11 points, Wayne Hamilton and Jeff Steenson 9 points each, Bill Whearty 8 points , Dick Danner 4 points and Terry Crump with 2 points. Gelinas led in field goals, 20-14, while Dunkin’ led in three-pointers, 4-2. Both teams hit 50% of their free throws as Gelinas went 9 for 18 and Dunkin’ hit 3 of 6.
