Men's Masters Basketball

---- — HAMPSTEAD – In last week’s action in the Hampstead Men’s Masters Basketball League, Captain Wayne Hamilton’s Dunkin’ Donuts East Hampstead (4-4) ran over Captain Stan Lewis’ Village Vinyl (4-4), 69-45, while in the second game Captain Paul Ramos’ Boutin Glass (7-1) pounded Captain Craig Wlodyka’s L&M Construction (3-5), 59-31. In the final game, Captain Dave Rowell’s East Coast Lumber (3-5) topped Captain Pat Curry’s Gelinas Siding (3-5), 60-43.

Village took an early 13-11 first quarter lead and extended their advantage to 29-25 at the half. The third period was all Dunkin’ as they exploded for 25 points and a 50-39 lead going into the final frame. Village was not able to recover and Dunkin’ cruised to the 69-45 win. Jeff Steenson led the scoring for Dunkin’ with 19 points with a lot of help from Bill Whearty with 18 points, Ben Ruggles 11 points, Bobby Clarke 10 points, Dick Danner 7 points and Dave Youngblood and Terry Crump with 2 points each. Village was led by Mike Desmond with17 points, Matt Tulley 8 points, Stan Lewis and Dave Goyette 6 points each, and Keith Therrien and Kevin Crump with 4 points each. Dunkin’ led in field goals, 24-16, and three-pointers, 3-2. Village hit 7 of 11 free throws for 64% while Dunkin’ hit 12 of 20 for 60%.

Boutin zipped out to a 15-7 lead and maintained their advantage at the half, 23-15. L&M went ice cold in the third period and Boutin took advantage and doubled up their lead, 38-19, and cruised to the 59-31 win. Craig McGuire led Boutin with 13 points followed by Kevin Young with 11 points, Scott True, John Boutin and Tim McDonald all with 8 points each, Kevin Meagher 6 points, Ross Huntington 3 points, and Paul Ramos with 2 points. L&M was led by Craig Anderson and Sean Morrissey with 7 points each, Calvin Coleman 6 points, Don Bell 4 points, and Tony Serino, Kent Anson and Bob Edwards all with 2 points each. Boutin led in field goals, 27-12, and both teams had a single three-pointer. L&M hit 4 of 9 free throws for 44% while Boutin hit 2 of 6 for 33%.

Gelinas grabbed the lead in the first quarter, 12-8, but East Coast came roaring back and led at the half, 27-18. Gelinas was able to get back into the game as they cut into East Coast’s lead, 39-33, but East Coast took back control in the final frame to come away with the 60-43 win. Dano Anderson lead East Coast with 15 points along with Jason Kimball with 14 points, Dan Munsell 10 points, Dave Wojichowski 8 points, Joe Dzengeleski 6 points, Harry Williams 4 points and Bill Demers with 3 points. Gelinas was led by Fred Malcolm with 13 points, Ken Gelinas 11 points, John Suprenant 9 points, Russ Evans and John Keisling 4 points each, and Steve Tripodi with 2 points. East Coast led in field goals, 22-14, and three-pointers, 4-2. Gelinas hit 9 of 16 free throws for 56% while East Coast hit 4 of 8 for 50%.
