Men's Masters Basketball

---- — HAMPSTEAD — In Week 3 of the Hampstead Men’s Masters Basketball League, Captain Stan Lewis’ East Coast Lumber (2-1) ran past Captain Bob Dudal’s Dunkin’ Donuts East Hampstead (1-2), 75-61, while in the second game Captain Dave Rowell’s Gelinas Siding (3-0) came from behind to top Captain Pat Curry’s United Business Machines (1-2), 50-41. In the final game Captain Craig Wlodyka’s L&M Construction (2-1) topped Captain Ken Wolenski’s Village Vinyl (0-3), 58-43.

East Coast    75 (2-1)

Dunkin’ Donuts    EH 61 (1-2)

East Coast jumped out to 23-18 first quarter lead and continued their hot shooting for a 43-30 advantage at the half. East Coast kept up the torrid pace as they stretched their lead to 64-45 after three quarters and cruised to the 75-61 win. Craig McGuire led the balanced East Coast scoring attack with 17 points and got a lot of help from Scott True with 15 points, Kevin Meagher 14 points, Keith Therrien and Stan Lewis 11 points each, and Russ Evans with 6 points. Dunkin’ was led by Fred Malcolm’s 25 points followed by Ben Ruggles with 15 points, Dano Anderson 8 points, Ken Fure 6 points, Wayne Hamilton 4 points and Bob Dudal with 2 points. East Coast led in field goals, 27-17, and free throw shooting, hitting 9 of 12 for 75% versus Dunkin’s 3 of 6 for 50%. Dunkin’ led in three-pointers, 8-4.

Gelinas Siding    50 (3-0)

UBM    41 (1-2)

UBM took a slim 11-10 first quarter lead, but a defensive second frame had Gelinas taking a 16-13 lead at the half. UBM started hitting some shots and grabbed a 30-24 lead after the third frame but the final volley was made by Gelinas as they dominated the fourth quarter for the 50-41 win. Steve Thompson led Gelinas with 12 points along with Ken Gelinas and Jason Kimball with 11 points each, Kevin McCarthy 7 points, John Suprenant 5 points and Mark Raumikaitis and Dave Goyette with 2 points each. UBM was led by Harry Williams with 18 points followed by John Keisling with 9 points, Don Bell 8 points, Mike Croke 4 points and Dick Danner with 2 points. UBM led in field goals, 13-12, while Gelinas led in three-pointers, 4-3, and free throw shooting, hitting 14 of 29 for 48% versus UBM’ 6 of 17 for 35%.

L&M Construction    58 (2-1)

Village Vinyl    43 (0-3)

L&M zipped out to a 20-16 first quarter lead and took advantage of some cold shooting by Village for a 39-23 half time lead.

Village tried to get back into the game, but L&M maintained control as they led 50-36 after three quarters and rolled to the

58-43 win. Scott Doyle led L&M with 17 points followed by Terry Crump with 13 points, Matt Tulley 9 points, Bob Edwards 6

points, Kevin Young and Jeff Steenson 5 points each, and Paul Ramos with 3 points. Village was led by Jim Whitehouse with

11 points along with Mike Desmond and Sean Morrissey 8 points each, Tim McDonald 7 points, Ken Wolenski 6 points, and Marty

Auger with 3 points. L&M led in field goals, 19-17, three pointers, 3-1, and free throw shooting, hitting 11 of 21 for 52%

versus Village’s 6 of 17 for 35%.
