Men's Masters Basketball

HAMPSTEAD —The Hampstead Master’s Basketball League (HMBL) is pleased to announce the start of sign ups and tryouts for the 2013-2014 season. League sign-ups are August 21 and 28, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Hampstead Memorial Gym. The league is open to Hampstead residents first, and if any slots are open for additional players, they will be considered on a first come basis as long as you show up for both of the tryouts. Players must be forty years of age or older . New players must bring proof of residency, age, pay, and attend at 6:00 p.m., in order to participate in tryout, no exception to this rule. New players must show up for both 6:00 p.m. tryouts and be ready to scrimmage. All former players must show up to register and pay prior to 8:00 p.m. on either of the two dates . All players must sign up and pay the registration fee before they are allowed to play. The resident’s fee is $150.00, and non-resident’s fee is $160.00.

The games start Wed., September 4, at 6:00 p.m., 7:15 p.m., and 8:30 p.m, and the public is welcome to attend. The league consists of six teams and will play twenty regular season games, plus double elimination play - offs. Shirts are provided.

Those people wishing to play should know the games are physical and should have some experience for safety procedures. Games are officiated by qualified referees! Jewelry, such as watches, rings, and neck chains are not allowed to be worn.

(Betit) and Alfred Robidoux, originally of Quebec, Canada. She was predeceased by her husband of 28 years, Armand Joseph Audy, who passed away on June 28, 1976.

    Bar Harbor, ME — Francis M. Lurvey passed away Sunday, June 22, in Bar Harbor, Maine, after battling cancer. By his side were his sons, Edwin Lurvey and Steven Lurvey and his niece and husband, Debra and Richard Carey, as well as cousin, Marion McDonald. He was the son of Edwin R Lurvey (Bar Harbor) and Delia Amazeen (Dexter). He is survived by five children, a stepson, and their families. His sons, Edwin and wife April, Steven and wife, Pam, David and his daughter, Meghan, as well as his daughters, Lorraine and Ellen and her husband, Paul DiScipio with daughters, Katherine and Julia, and his stepson, Brian Faulkner and wife, Jody with children, Trevor, Rachel, and Keith. He is also survived by his sister, Sheryl, and many nieces and nephews including Frank Lurvey and Elaine Langer. Francis was predeceased by his twin brother, Frank, as well as his brothers, Edwin and Erwin. He was also predeceased by his longtime companion, Brian and Edwin’s mother, Maureen Faulkner and former wife, Roberta Lurvey Gilmore.
