  • Arlette Selfe, 78

    East Hampstead, NH — Arlette Hooper Selfe, 78, of East Hampstead, passed away peacefully at the Portsmouth Regional Hospital on September 7, 2013, with her family by her side. She is survived by her beloved husband, Robert Selfe and her six children, Richard Hooper (Catherine) of Lampasas, Texas, Fabienne Verschoor (Alex) of Nottingham, Patricia Howard (Casey) of Farmington, Carol Lefebvre (Tim) of Strafford, Leslie St. Laurent of Stafford, Virginia and Michele Hooper of Atkinson. Arlette is also survived by her nine grandchildren, Nicole Lefebvre, Anthony Bucci, Richard Bucci, Tyler Lefebvre, Kara St. Laurent, Benjamin Howard, Grant St. Laurent, Joshua Howard and Jocelyn Hooper. She had three stepchildren, Rebecca Wessels of Hilo, Hawaii, Jeanette Englert (Fred) of Trout Run, Pa., and Suzan Stout (Matt) of Exeter. Arlette was predeceased by her first husband, John Richard Hooper in 1989.

  • David H. Cross, 80

    Summerfield, FL — David H. Cross passed away on Sept. 1, 2013 with his loving family by his side. Dave was born on Jan. 3, 1933 to the late Hurley and Beatrice Cross. He graduated from Pinkerton Academy in 1951 and worked at Skellys Garage in Haverhill, MA, for many years and at Centronics in Hudson, NH, until his retirement in 1988 at which time he and his wife moved to Florida, where they enjoyed many happy years. In his earlier years he was a member of the Masons and became a Shriner. Dave enjoyed boating and camping and spending time with his family. He had an awesome sense of humor and loved joking and making you laugh, which is how he got his nickname "Dirty Old Man." He will be sadly missed. He leaves his wife Alice (Haggett) Cross of 62 years; sons and daughters-in-law, Donald and Linda (Faxon) Cross of Ocklawah, FL, David and Jean (Ouellet) Cross of Fremont, NH, Cathy (Bevins) Cross of Joppa, MD; sisters, Pearl Thar of Florida, Ginger Wolak of Summerfield, FL, and Charlotte Barry of Hampstead, NH; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Lorenzo and Bette Haggett of Summerfield, FL; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his sons, Larry Cross and Robert Cross.

Loving mother of Patricia Sugrue and husband Michael of Hampstead, N.H.; Dianne Herther and husband Jay of Merrimack, N.H.; Lynda Pintrich and husband, Keith Martin of Nashua, N.H.; and Kathleen Grover of Tewksbury, Mass. Predeceased by her son, Paul R. Pintrich. Mother-in-law of Liz Degroot of Ann Arbor, Mich. Devoted grandmother of Mike and Lyndsay Sugrue, Jamie Herther, and Jack and Patrick Martin.
