EPPING —Seventh grader Konrad Hodgman defeated Haskel Pim in the final round of the Epping Middle School Geography Bee held on January 16. Konrad was able to correctly answer the question: “What South American capital city lies southwest of Lake Titicaca?” with his response of La Paz.
All middle school students competed in the preliminary round, and three finalists qualified from each grade. Finalists were: from the Dartmouth Team (grade 8): Connor Jackson, Nick Funai, and AJ Johnson; from the Harvard team (grade 7): Kameron Martin, Konrad Hodgman, and Jake Bisaillon; and from the Yale Team (grade 6): MacKenzie Newman, Haskel Pim, and Morgan Shanley.
Konrad will now take a written test in hopes of qualifying for the State Geography Bee. If he qualifies, he will compete with others from around the State in hopes of representing New Hampshire at the National Bee in Washington, DC.
