Hoops for Heart at Hampstead Academy

In an effort to raise awareness of heart health among students and to contribute to the American Heart Association’s research into the battle against cardiovascular disease, Hampstead Academy students participated in a fun-filled, educational, and fund-raising week of “Hoops for Heart!”, an exciting fundraising activity where kids play basketball and raise funds for the American Heart Association. At Hampstead Academy, Upper School students formed the “Hoops for Heart” Club where they learned about promoting heart health and then created lesson plans for their schoolmates. The club members taught their lessons during physical education, boosting heart health awareness for everyone. Additionally, all week the students promoted heart health awareness through organized activities such as a “Nail and Face Painting” fundraiser, a Bake Sale featuring heart-healthy snacks, a “Special Hat Day” fundraiser, a “PJ Day” fundraiser, and a “Be a Super Hero” fundraiser.

In all, students at Hampstead Academy raised over $1000 for the American Heart Association while simultaneously raising the awareness of the community about the importance of heart health!
