---- — EPPING - Welcome to the Epping School Board News Corner for the April 4, 2013 School Board Meeting.

Guests – The Board approved the Occupational Therapy Plan and Occupational Therapist Job Description as presented.

Policy – The Board approved the amended facilities use policy for enhanced security, the transportation policy to address legal parental agreements, and the grading policy to align with the high school competency system. The Board scheduled a work session on April 10th to determine a forum in which to review selected athletic policies and begin the discussion on athletic eligibility factors.

Financial/Facilities – a. Facilities Report – The Board approved the sale of light ballasts no longer in use. The EES oil tank was found to contain water. No tank leaks were discovered. A building vent pipe was removed and repaired. b. Playground Update – Two options for the playground layout were presented along with a timeline and budget. The Board requested to be placed on the upcoming Selectmen’s agenda to request the release of impact fees for this project as approved by the voters. c. Security/Safety Update – The Board approved the security plan for weekend use of the three school gymnasiums and revisions to secure these areas from the rest of the building. The Board tabled other recommended measures and directed administration to conduct a comprehensive security/safety review. d. Budget 2013-2014 – The Board approved the recommended reductions to comply with the default budget. e. Budget Forecast 2012-2013 – It was reported that when taking into consideration contractual and non-contractual expenses the district was forecasted to have funds to meet obligations including the recommended security upgrades and funding of the capital reserve fund. f. Electricity – This school year the district has saved more than $13,000 by outsourcing electricity purchase. g. Audit – The audit bid was awarded to Roberts & Greene. h. Capital Improvement Plan – The Board approved the 2013-2019 District Capital Improvement Plan and the request to amend the Town Capital Improvements Program to include this plan and to revise the previous town plan to reinstate deleted projects.

Personnel – The Board approved with regret the retirement of Lyn Healy, Director of Professional Learning.
