Successful Fundraiser

Carriage Towne News

---- — Recently Ms Belville's class at Sanborn Middle School, along with the help of Doreen Larson and Vicki Colcord, completed a huge community service project to benefit the Soles4Souls organization.  Working with School Nurse Tracy Gilmartin, students Ronny Dube, Brandon Stafford, Sophia Rak, Travis Lynch, Abagail Tavares, Katarina Stasinos, Adam Gundersen, Peter Chambers and Alexis Eaton hosted a school wide shoe drive for the Nashville-based charity that provides free shoes to needy people worldwide.  All shoes collected will be refurbished by the Soles4Souls and distributed to areas most in need.

Not only did the students collect 136 pairs of shoes to donate, but they were surprised to learn that they would have to cover the cost of shipping the boxes of shoes.  They decided to hold a bake sale to raise the needed money for shipping!  The bake sale was a huge success and provided more than enough money to complete their Soles4Souls campaign.  Both Ms. Belville and Nurse Gilmartin were thrilled with the enthusiasm and organization the kids showed to see the project through to the end, despite some bumps in the road.
