Sanborn Connection

By Dr. Brian J. Blake
Superintendent of Schools

---- — KINGSTON —The Time is Upon Us! As I write this, we are enjoying brisk mornings and beautiful days. Perhaps Mother Nature is helping us “ease” back into school mode. School starts in just a few days.

While students have been off for the summer, the buildings have continued to bustle with activity. During the month of July, we ran an extensive summer program involving over 200 students and over 30 full and part time staff members. Teachers have also been busy with summer summits, planning and working on curriculum for the coming year. Throughout July and August, each of the buildings received fresh paint, wax and necessary repairs to ensure a clean and safe environment. We also continued our work to make our buildings more energy efficient and improve the air quality for our students and staff.

Preparations are now under way for the opening days of school. Bus schedules are being prepared, class schedules are being reviewed and modified, and teachers are busy preparing their classrooms for students. The final touches are being put on the buildings as we prepare to open the doors for the 2013-2014 school year.

On August 21, we will welcome approximately sixteen new teachers and staff members to the district through a day of orientation. All staff report for their first “official” day on Fri., August 23 for my opening comments and building level meetings. On Monday, the staff will participate in professional development activities; setting the stage for the year ahead. Tues., August 27, will be our first day for students.

We have much to be thankful for in the Sanborn Regional School District. We have beautiful facilities, a hard working and dedicated staff, and a supportive community. The work over the past few years in the District is being recognized on both the State and National level. I am looking forward to another successful year as our children continue to grow and learn.

Enjoy these last few days of summer! If you should have any questions, please contact me at
