Epping School Board News

EPPING - Welcome to the Epping School Board News Corner for the August 1, 2013 School Board Meeting.

Policy – Policy EBBC First Aid and Emergency Care was approved. A second reading was conducted on the revised Policy JLCJ Concussions and Head Injuries. The revision permits supervised gradual return to play under supervision of medical practitioner and athletic trainer.

Administrative Reports – The EES, EMS, and EHS Student Handbooks and Athletic Handbooks were approved. The District Parent Notification of Rights and Staff Handbooks were approved.

Financial – School/district affiliated groups have been contacted about submitting their year-end and new-year budget figures with their 2013-2014 agreements in order to fundraise in the schools. The playground project is on schedule. The Board awarded the stone bid to Gatchell Excavation and certified wood chip bid to P.R. Russell. The Board awarded the copier bid to Conway. The field repair bid was awarded to Future Supply.

Personnel – The Board approved the resignation of EES Teacher Robin Yergeau and ESOL Teacher Jennifer Tincher. The Board authorized District Office to select a school board secretary.

Other – The Superintendent presented the 2013-2014 School District Model “21st Century Outcomes for College, Career and Life Ready Students”, action plan, and goals. The Board approved the goals as presented.

  • Pi Day at Swasey School

    Recently, some 4th and 5th grade students at Swasey Central School in Brentwood, participated in a Pi Day celebration. This day focused on mathematical pi, which included activities regarding circles, diameters and circumferences. In addition, students competed in a "Pi Digit Challenge." They worked to memorize as many digits past the decimal as they could. Pictured are 4th grader Savannah Stucki (114 digits), 5th grader Haley Nickola (105 digits), and 4th grader Rylee Lyles (162 digits).

  • Making Music Sanborn Style

    Sanborn Regional High School hosted its second annual Fine Arts Night at the high school featuring some of Sanborn’s finest musical talents. Eighth grade student Colin Holt is ready to hit the big stage. He is the son of Cheryl and Kevin Holt of Kingston.

    Roger’s and Hammersteins’s classic musical “South Pacific” was performed by Sanborn Drama at the Sanborn Regional High School. Giant palm trees graced the stage bringing you to the islands and all your favorite listening pleasures. Cast members include from left, Alex Felisberto, Lt.     Meredith, NH — Elwood (Al) Shaw, 93, of Center Harbor, passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 30, 2014, at Forestview Manor in Meredith. He was the beloved husband of the late Greta L. (Sykes) Shaw, to whom he was married for 62 years.

    Sandown, NH — Jo Ann (Phelps) Hughes of Sandown, New Hampshire passed away on Thursday, March 27, 2014, surrounded by all of her children at home. She was born in Little Bend Kentucky, to Beatrice (Shepherd) Phelps and John (Cat) Phelps in 1934. Jo Ann was predeceased by brothers, Marcus Phelps, Johnny Phelps, Forrest Phelps and sisters, Juanita Phelps, and Jeanette (Phelps) Vincent. She is survived by brother, Donald Quiggins of Georgia; sisters, Geneva (Phelps) Stanley of Kentucky, and Frances (Phelps) Bratcher of Tennessee who had just visited Jo Ann in September of 2013.
