RAYMOND —The Raymond Coalition for Youth is encouraging the community to once again come together to promote healthy, drug-free living by helping us to promote and celebrate Red Ribbon Week (October 23-31).
Red Ribbon Week is the nation’s oldest and largest drug prevention program in the nation, reaching millions of Americans during the last week of October every year. By wearing red ribbons and participating in Community anti‐drug events, young people pledge to live a drug‐free life and pay tribute to DEA Special Agent Enriqué “Kiki” Camarena. Agent Camarena dedicated his life to fighting the war on drugs and on February 7, 1985 he was kidnapped and murdered by the Mexican Drug Cartel. His death is a reminder of how important the war on drugs is and just how dangerous they can be.
Everyone who supports a Drug Free Lifestyle can show their support to youth and the community as a whole by wearing RED, displaying Red Ribbons at their home or Business or by displaying this printable 8x 10 Poster in the window of their business, class room, office or home on the refrigerator.
RCFY has engaged with the community and there are several locations such as the town hall, our schools, the library and the Rec. Department that you can pick up stickers to show your support.
Our schools will also be passing out ribbons, bookmarks, bracelets and planting tulip bulbs that will become beautiful flowers in April – which just happens to be Alcohol Awareness month.
Want to join us and go viral? No, you will not become sick but you will help us spread the word about Red Ribbon Week and the importance of spreading awareness through conversation and outreach.
