Miss Hampstead Pageant

HAMPSTEAD —The Hampstead Lions Club is sponsoring the 40th annual Miss Hampstead Pageant. Young ladies between the ages of 14 and 17 are urged to apply. To qualify you have to have been a full time Hampstead or East Hampstead resident for the last six months. Pre-interview will be Thurs., June 26, at 7:30 p.m. in the Old Meeting House. The final interview will be Sat., June 28, at the Town 4th of July celebration.

Miss Hampstead contestants will be judged on: Poise, Personality, Appearance and Interview.

To apply, simply complete an application and participate in both the Pre and Final interviews.

Applications must be returned by June 21.

Miss Hampstead will receive a $250.00 Cash Award, a Dozen Roses, a Trophy, a Tiara and a Sash. The First Runner-Up will receive a Trophy and a Rose. The Second Runner-Up will receive a Trophy and a Rose. All other Contestants will receive a Rose.

Miss Hampstead’s responsibilities include, appearing in the Town Christmas Parade, attending the Lions Easter Pancake Breakfast, the Senior Citizen’s Christmas Dinner, and attending the 2015 Miss Hampstead presentation, and other Town functions.

The Lions wish to thank Miss Hampstead 2013, Amber Alexander for doing a great job this year. A special thanks to the Judges, Hampstead Trophy and Suzanne’s Flowers.

  •  Successful Conservation Collaboration

    On June 17, the sophomore class of Sanborn Regional High School made a field trip to the Old Frye Town Forest, one of Kingston's five town forests, to assist the Kingston Conservation Commission in the removal of invasive plants from the area near the trailhead, notably, an extensive and aggressive patch of Japanese knotweed. This project was the culmination of the school's third year of intra-curricular collaboration with the Commission to address local environmental issues, and to make conservation an area of study and research. Congratulations from the Commission to the teachers and students for a job well done!

  • Volunteer of the Year

    Atkinson Academy Elementary School has named its Volunteer of the Year for 2014. Timberlane Regional High School graduate Ashley Higham, right, received the award from teacher Meredith Bastien, pictured left. Ashley volunteered her services three days a week for two hours in 5-K Intensive Needs classes during the school year.
