Epping School Board News

---- — EPPING - Welcome to the Epping School Board News Corner for the April 17, 2014 School Board Meeting.

Guests – Guidance Counselors and students presented bullying prevention and student leadership activities conducted in each school. Epping students were also recognized for awards received at the NH Future Farmers of America (FFA) state competition.

Policy – Students presented their leadership experiences with the NHIAA program Life of an Athlete. The NHIAA Representative will be available May 1st to answer any questions.

School Administrator Reports – The Middle and High Schools report highlighted student fundraising activities for the Boston Firefighters and Philippines’ Typhoon Relief. Also highlighted were MS Adventure Club’s high ropes activity, the Geography Bee, and Youth and Government award. Grade 9 visited Boston for the Body World’s Exhibit and Congressional Session at the State House. High school students (14% of the student body) have left for France and Spain over the April vacation period. Teachers are continuing to prepare for the NEASC accreditation visit in March 2015. HS Teacher John Herman was also recognized for releasing a free online book for beginner readers. The Athletic report recognized three basketball players for All Academic Awards. Plans are underway to celebrate the Basketball Champions. A demonstration was also given on the new athletic scheduling software and online sports registration software.

District Services Reports – The Facilities report highlighted projects planned for the spring and summer including replacing the high school oil tank, finishing floors for the last 4 high school classrooms, renovating the high school teachers’ lounge, completing an elementary bus turnaround area behind the school, repainting rest room floors, and adding a few parking spaces for kitchen staff. A status report on regular transportation was also provided.

Personnel – Administrative and other personnel changes were reviewed. Positions have been posted with late April to early May closing dates. The EHS Special Services Program Counselor and revised School Principal job descriptions were approved.

Next Meeting – The next regular meeting is scheduled for May 1, 2014. Meetings are open to the public and regular meetings televised on ETV.
